Assistant Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering
Akshitha Sriraman is an Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. Her research bridges computer architecture and software systems, with a focus on making hyperscale data centers more efficient, sustainable and equitable.
Sriraman's system solutions to improve hardware efficiency have been deployed in real hyperscale data centers. Currently, they serve billions of users, saving billions of dollars and meaningfully reducing the global carbon footprint. Her hardware design proposals have influenced the design of Intel's Alder Lake CPU architectures and Intel's Infrastructure Processing Unit.
Sriraman's research has been recognized with several awards, including the 2022 ACM SIGARCH/IEEE TCCA Outstanding Dissertation Award Honorable Mention, the 2022 ACM SIGOPS Dennis M. Ritchie Doctoral Dissertation Award Honorable Mention, the 2021 David J. Kuck Dissertation Prize, the 2021 ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award, a Meta Systems Research Award, and an IEEE Micro Top Picks distinction. She was also awarded a Facebook Fellowship and named a Rising Star in EECS.
