Christopher Timperley is a senior systems scientist in the Software and Societal Systems Department, Carnegie Mellon University. Most of his work is conducted in the context of squaresLab.

Prior to joining CMU, he received his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of York, UK, for his thesis on search-based program repair, under the supervision of Professor Susan Stepney.

Timperley’s research interests lie in search-based software engineering and testing; specifically, he develops techniques for automatically detecting, locating, and repairing faults in large-scale, real-world software systems. Since coming to CMU, his focus has been on applying such techniques to the domain of robotics systems, with a particular emphasis on autonomous vehicles.
