Joanne C. Peca is an associate professor of the practice with Carnegie Mellon University's Information Networking Institute. She has worked in the field of information technology and security for over twenty-five years in both hands-on and leadership roles.
Peca has spent the majority of her career in the realm of higher education, with a focus on strategic technology leadership. Prior to joining the INI, Peca held a faculty appointment in the College of Information Sciences and Technology at Penn State University. Peca also previously served as Penn State Altoona’s Chief Information Officer from 2010 to 2019, capping her tenure at the college with recognition as the Pittsburgh Technology Council's 2019 Non-Profit CIO of the Year.
In 2019, Peca founded High Point Drive LLC, a consulting and coaching firm which allows her to share her expertise in organizational leadership, executive and leadership development, and technology with organizations and individuals looking to evolve their business, organization, individuals and teams.
Throughout her career, Peca has focused on understanding the role of organizational dynamics and interpersonal relationships and their impact on the development and deployment of innovative technology solutions and services. This industry experience aligns with her research, which focuses on the intersection of organizational leadership and technology. Additionally, she is actively engaged with several service organizations which focus on diversity in STEM.
