Abstract

Scope:  Design robust, secure, efficient Networked Embedded Control Systems. While cheap, easily deployable, maintenance free, highly dense and distributed wireless sensor-actuator networks promise a wealth of new applications and radical improvement to existing ones, their robustness to faults and security breaches represents a major concern, as issues of communications, delay, data loss, time-synchronization and date integrity play a critical role.

Outcomes: Sound categorization on distributed sensor nodes; collaborative network localization from ambient sound; collaborative task processing and sensing task partition; secure distributed communication on heterogeneous networks with sensor nodes and mobile phones; secure data migration in heterogeneous networks; ubiquitous sensor testbed for home patient monitoring.
