Abstract

Cyber Threat Intelligence:  It’s the latest trend and marketing phrase.  How is it really new or different? How is it distinct from threat feeds?  How does the IT security organization use intelligence to defend and be proactive?  This talk will be an operations level discussion of how an end to end cyber threat intelligence program works.  And how cyber threat intelligence flows across the enterprise.

Speaker Bio

W. Michael Susong has 3 decades as an intelligence professional in both government service and private industry. Mike distinguished himself a former CIA operations officer and served in combat on three continents as an Army Major. He has a Masters degree in Strategic Intelligence from the Defense Intelligence Agency and was awarded the CIA’s Intelligence Star for heroism in the field. 

In the private sector Mike created a competitive intelligence programs for Fujitsu Limited and Ernst&Young LLP, and cofounded the cyber security company, iSIGHT Partners. He went on to establish the industry’s first cyber threat intelligence program at Pacific Gas and Electric Company and most recently at Visa Incorporated.

He is the former Chair of the Council on Competitive Analysis of The Conference Board™, former board of directors of the Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals™, is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM™) and Certified Protection Professional (CPP™). As a volunteer, Mike is active in Orphan Secure, a NGO focused on countering global child exploitation, the National Eagle Scout Association, and as a Wilderness First Responder™
